Winter in Ohio is not usually viewed with envious eyes by those seeking to photograph the breathtaking, exotic or dramatic. The subtle beauty of hushed tones and soft light - what so many people consider drab and dreary - is often something only the visual artist can appreciate. That is until the visual artist is successful in conveying the often overlooked and hidden beauty in photographs that hold true to the essence of subject accentuated in low, soft light.
I've come to enjoy winter in Ohio. From a photographer's standpoint it is an acquired taste, one which has much more to do with appreciating the value of delicate light over the more popular opinions and assumptions of the casual, fair-weather photographer.
